Domestic and foreign textile and apparel consumption continues to decline

China’s textile and apparel exports in September were US$22.981 billion, a decrease of 9.7% from the previous month. Among them, exports of textile products amounted to US$7.948 billion, a decrease of 5% from the previous period; exports of garments and accessories reached US$15.033 billion, a decrease of 12% from the previous quarter.

The United States, Japan, and the European Union are the major importers of Chinese textiles and apparel.

According to the national consumer confidence index, except Japan’s consumption power has gradually recovered from the earthquake disaster, the US and the European Union’s debt crisis has declined due to the European debt crisis and the unoptimistic economic situation. The consumer confidence index has continued to decline.

China's retail sales of all kinds of major retail enterprises in the country fell by 1.98% year-on-year in September, which was the first decline in the last few months in recent months, indicating signs of an overall slowdown in domestic cotton demand.

From the current sluggish domestic cotton consumption situation, it can be predicted that global cotton demand and domestic demand will continue to decrease.
