In the first quarter of 2011, El Salvador’s textile exports increased by 18.3%

In the first quarter of 2011, the trade deficit in El Salvador increased compared with the same period in 2010.

According to statistics from the Central Bank of Saguaro, the trade deficit in El Salvador in the first quarter of 2011 was US$1.029 billion, an increase of US$152.5 million from 2010. In the first quarter of 2011, the export volume was 1,391.51 million US dollars, up 28% from 2010, and the amount of imports was 2.424 billion US dollars, an increase of 23.3% over 2010.

From January to March 2011, the export value of El Salvador’s traditional products was US$260 million, an increase of 85.8% compared with the same period of 2010. The growth rate of exports amounted to a maximum of 97.7% of coffee, 67.7% of sucrose and 144.1% of shrimp, mainly due to the growth. Three prices have risen sharply, such as coffee, which has increased by $182.5 million due to the sharp rise in international prices.

Exports of non-traditional products amounted to US$852.2 million, an increase of 19.9%.

El Salvador’s exports to areas outside Central America grew by 21.7%, which was higher than 18.4% of Central American countries’ exports. In the first quarter of 2011, Saguaro’s textile exports amounted to US$288.90 million, a growth of 18.3% over the same period in 2010.
