Hi there, Oliver + S sewers! This is Shelley, popping in once more. I must admit, I feel slightly out of my depth writing this kind of “how I wear it†post because I don’t exactly consider myself an outfit stylist or trend follower. Truthfully, I just throw something on most days—though the ones involving uniforms or pajamas don’t count as actual dressing-up sessions! Anyway, I recently sewed up a Liesl + Co. City Stroll Wrap Skirt and decided to put it through its paces at the ballet with the kids the following day. Spoiler alert: I absolutely loved it! Here’s what it looked like:
As someone who values functionality in my wardrobe, I couldn’t be happier with how this skirt performed. While I do enjoy the occasional fancy frock that might not be the easiest to move around in, my daily attire needs to keep up with my active lifestyle. Whether I’m cycling to work, standing at my desk, walking around town, or even playing with the kids, I need clothing that can keep up—and this skirt did just that. Liesl promised us that the wrap design would stay put and provide ample coverage, and after putting it through its paces, I can confirm she wasn’t kidding. Even during the chilly Australian winter, I’ve been layering it with tights and boots, though I figured no one would believe me unless I proved it could work without them. Hence, I created a second version and pretended it was summertime—let’s just say that required some serious imagination on my part, especially when the wind chill factor hit hard!
For those of you whose days include grabbing a coffee at your local café, cycling through the neighborhood, or getting down on the floor to admire prize-winning ducks, this skirt is an absolute winner. Just remember, sitting cross-legged to build LEGO towers might require a little extra caution. But hey, who am I to judge? I love a good playdate.
