Since the new century, China's cotton textile industry has made considerable progress. In 2001, the cotton spinning industry had a total of 34.43 million spindles, reaching 110 million spindles by 2009; yarn production increased from 6.6 million tons to 23.9 million tons, an average annual increase of 29.1%; cloth production also increased from the initial 27.7 billion meters to 74 billion meters. The average annual growth rate was 18.5%. The profit of the cotton spinning industry increased from 6 billion yuan in 2000 to 38 billion yuan in 2009; the number of enterprises increased from 3,793 to 11,701, with an average annual increase of 23.1%. Although the number of enterprises has more than tripled, the number of employees has been reduced from 2.568 million to 2.497 million. This shows that the labor productivity of the cotton spinning industry has increased substantially.

The financial crisis has had a certain impact on the cotton textile industry. In particular, last year the industry encountered great difficulties. Even so, the average profit rate of the industry last year was still higher than in 2007 and 2008. This is mainly because the profit rate of one-third of the outstanding companies in the industry supports the development of the entire industry, and their average profit rate reached 8.7%. Most of the one-third of these enterprises are relatively well-developed upstream and downstream industry chains. It is the complete industrial chain and rich product structure that brings the development momentum and profits to the company.

In this year's yarn exhibition, the cotton textile enterprises exhibited no major changes, and high-yarn yarns, pure cotton yarns, and blended yarns will all appear. At the same time, the appearance of functional yarns will also be the highlight of this exhibition. For example, most companies will present yarns with Flame Retardant, anti-static and other functions.
