India's cotton yarn exports will increase 17% year-on-year to 845 million kg

The Cotton Yarn Advisory Committee (CYAB) estimates that cotton yarn exports in 2011-12 will increase by approximately 17% from 2010-11 to 845 million kg.

In the last month of 2010, the Indian government capped cotton exports to 720 million kilograms in order to curb rising domestic cotton prices in 2010-11.

At the same time, the Committee recently estimated that yarn production will increase to 3.931 billion kilograms in 2011-12, compared to 3.51 billion kilograms in 2010-11.

The current annual (October-September) cotton production is estimated at 32.1 million bales.

In addition, the ending stocks of yarns in 2011-12 are expected to decrease to 85 million kg, compared with 178 million kg in 2010-11.
