Colorful natural dyes

The catechu brown dye is extracted from wood called catechu, which grows mainly in India and other places. The bred tea brown dye mainly contains two coloring components, catechin tannin and catechin. The former is soluble in cold water, the latter soluble in hot water. According to the difference in solubility, catechin tannin and catechin can be separated from the catechu brown dye. In catechin brown, the proportion of catechins can be as high as 17%. At present, catechol brown dyes are mainly used for weight gain of cotton and silk.

black wood is more common black natural dyes extracted from the wood of hematoxylin. The wood that has just been cut down is not black and will change color when oxidized by air. There are black dyes in the cypress bark, the fruit of the tomato branch, and the bark of the Arabian acacia.


The green natural dye elderberry is extracted from a shrub grown in the Scottish Highlands. Spring is extracted from the leaves and autumn is extracted from the berries. The berry was purple at first, soaked in water containing ammonia and soda, it was a beautiful apple green, and after being soaked for 24 hours, it could be dyed with aluminum morsels. When dyeing, it need not be heated, soak it for 24h. Natural sources include lily-of-the-valley and daghe.


Orange natural dyes can be extracted from plants, such as the flowers of Dahlia, or from mineral sources, such as a red clay.
